Use MaiToken as the API backend in Cherry Studio

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure:

  1. Cherry Studio is installed

    Download and install the version for your operating system from the Cherry Studio website.

  2. You have a MaiToken API key

    Sign in to the MaiToken Console to get your API key (it starts with sk-).

Tip: If you don't have a MaiToken account yet, sign up at MaiToken first and get your API key.

Configuration Steps

Step 1: Open the model provider settings

  1. Launch Cherry Studio
  2. Click the Settings icon (gear icon) in the bottom-left corner
  3. On the settings page, select Model Services or Providers

Step 2: Add the MaiToken provider

  1. Click the + button in the top-right of the provider list to add a new provider
  2. In the dialog that pops up:
    • Name: enter MaiToken (or any name you like)
    • Provider type: choose New API (OpenAI-compatible)
  3. Click Confirm to finish creating it

Step 3: Fill in the API configuration

On the MaiToken provider configuration page, fill in the following:

API address https://api.maitoken.com/v1/

Step 4: Add a model

  1. On the provider configuration page, click the Add Model button
  2. Fill in the model details:
    • Model ID: enter the model ID you want to use (see the recommended models list below)
    • Endpoint type: choose OpenAI
  3. Click Save

You can repeat the steps above to add multiple models as needed.

Step 5: Enable and verify

  1. Make sure the toggle on the right of the provider is on
  2. Click the Check Connection or Test button to verify the configuration is correct
  3. If it reports a successful connection, the setup is complete

Getting Started

Once configured:

  1. Return to the Cherry Studio main screen
  2. In the model selector at the top of the chat box, choose the MaiToken model you just added
  3. Start chatting

FAQ

Q1: Connection test failed?

Solution:

  1. Check that the API key is correct and starts with sk-
  2. Confirm the API address is set to https://api.maitoken.com/v1/ (note the trailing slash)
  3. Confirm in the MaiToken Console that the key hasn't expired and your account balance is sufficient
  4. Check your network connection and that you can reach https://api.maitoken.com

Q2: Can't find your model in the model list?

Cherry Studio uses manual model addition — just enter the model ID when adding a model. You can view all available model IDs on the MaiToken model list.

Q3: Common Error Codes
